UE/Harlaxton Grads Perform (along with Kevin Spacey) in Harlaxton’s Great Hall
Last Monday night, scenes from Romeo and Juliet were played in the Great Hall of Harlaxton Manor, in space similar to the great halls of Middle Temple in London and King Henry VIII’s Hampton Court Palace, where Shakespeare once played.
Two UE/Harlaxton (Fall 1995) graduates were featured: Liz Morton as Juliet, Nathan Darrow as Prologue and Director. They were joined by three actors from the Old Vic Company, including artistic director Kevin Spacey, all of whom rehearsed and came because Nathan asked. They are presently closing a London run of Shakespeare’s Richard III, in which Spacey is starring and Darrow has two very substantial roles (including that of Henry Richmond, the future King Henry V). The Old Vic company begins touring Richard III next week in Hong Kong.
Nathan and Liz both say that Harlaxton was a major part in their own life journeys, and they wanted to come back “home” and do something good for present students. They did!
That's fantastic! What a great opportunity delivered right to the manor!
