Christmas at Harlaxton 2011, a set on Flickr.
Christmas celebrations at Harlaxton began early with the traditional Trimming the Christmas Tree event in the Great Hall after Thanksgiving during which our students, faculty and staff spent an enjoyable afternoon decorating our 20 foot tree.
Then came the Harlaxton Family Christmas, a day of celebration with members of staff and their families, students, faculty and Meet-a-Families enjoying a sumptuous buffet meal, Father Christmas, Children’s Crafts and other festivities.
And finally, after we had bid farewell to the Fall 2011 semester and in the thick of the multitude of preparations necessary before the arrival of our Spring 2012 semester, we stole a few moments to gather together as a staff in the Great Hall, sing carols, eat mince pies (lots of them – yum), enjoy a Christmas hamper raffle and celebrate Andrew Potter winning the coveted Staff Christmas Competition. But, most of all, we enjoyed each other’s good company for a few precious moments.
Thanks to all who organised and made these events a possibility. And Merry Christmas!
