Summer School 2012 Arrivals

Saturday, 12th May 2012
13:00 - All students and faculty arrived, were welcomed in the Great Hall, had a bit of lunch, and they are now getting settled in their rooms.

12:10 - The coach is on its way up the drive to the Front Circle.


09:30 - All have cleared immigration and customs and have reached the meeting point. The group will leave Heathrow at about 09:40 and should arrive at Harlaxton around midday.

09:00 - All flights have landed with no delays. Students will be making their way to the pickup point after clearing immigration and customs.

01:00 - A message from Earl Kirk at Chicago airport -

I can confirm that all trans-Atlantic flights with Harlaxton are now airborne. There were a few delays from New York and Montreal, but arrival times are currently projected to be only minutes later than originally scheduled. All other flights departed on time. 

Friday, 11th May 2012
Good afternoon on a bright and sunny (but windy) day at Harlaxton.

15:00 - Final preparations are being made before we begin arrivals tomorow morning at Heathrow Airport. Our very own Dr Kingsley will be your shepherd tomorrow morning. If you are experiencing any delays please don't forget to contact Earl Kirk or the College as soon as possible.

Spring 2012 Arrivals

Friday, 6th January 2012 - Student Arrival Day
Good morning on a bright and sunny (but cold) day at Harlaxton.

3:00 - We're coming to get you! Dr Taylor, Dr Bujak and Heather Elam will be your shepherds this morning.

6:00 - We are aware of a few delayed flights but most should still arrive in time for the official pickup.

9:00 - The Spring 2012 arrivals have begun! So far we have had no major problems at Heathrow airport and the first and second coaches (buses) of 48 students left at 7:10 and 7:50 and should arrive at Harlaxton at about 10:00 and 10:40 respectively.

9:30 - The third coach (bus) has just left Heathrow and should arrive at Harlaxton at about 12:30.

10:10 - The first coach (bus) has arrived and the students ( I swear they are getting younger every year!) have had a brief introduction from Dr Kingsley before lunch and settling in. The second coach is due at 10:45.
 

10:50 - The second coach (bus) has arrived.  The third coach is due at 11:40.


11:45 - The third coach (bus) has arrived. The fourth and final coach has left Heathrow and will be with us at about 14:00. Unfortunately, two students whoose flights were severly delayed missed the pickup but they know how to make their way to Harlaxton.


14:30 - The fourth and final coach (bus) has arrived. We now have all students except for two delayed arrivals and some who are arriving independently.

Wednesday, 4th January 2012 - Faculty Arrival Day
06:00 - Our very own Dr David Green left Harlaxton to collect our Spring 2012 faculty.

10:30 - No problems in spite of very windy weather in the UK and the faculty are now on their way to Harlaxton. We expect arrival at about 13:00. You can find full details of our Spring 2012 faculty on our website.

13:30 - The faculty have arrived and we are glad to see them. Today they will be getting settled and getting to know the manor. Then, tomorrow, faculty orientation begins as does last minute preparations for student arrivals on Friday.

Fall 2011 Arrivals

Friday, 26th August 2011 - Student Arrival Day
We won't let the weather spoil our parade - yep, its raining at Harlaxton.

4:00 - We're coming to get you! Dr Taylor, Dr Bujak and Heather Elam will be your shepherds this morning. As you can see, you won't miss them.

10:00 - The Fall 2011 arrivals have begun! So far we have had no problems at Heathrow airport and the first coach (bus) of 48 students has just left and should arrive at Harlaxton at about 12:30-13:00. We have also started to receive a few independent arrivals.

11:00 - The second coach (bus) has left Heathrow and should arrive at Harlaxton at about 13:30-14:00.

12:00 - The third and final coach (bus) has left Heathrow and will be here around 14:30-15:00. We have 5 students that did not arrive or meet the group as scheduled. The first coach (bus) will be arriving in about 15mins.

12:23 - The first coach (bus) has arrived and the students have had a brief introduction from Dr Kingsley before lunch and settling in.

14:10 - The second coach (bus) has arrived.

15:45 - The third and final coach has arrived. We still have a number of independent arrival to come but we are nearly complete for the semester.

18:30 - All students have arrived except some independent arrivals who are scheduled to arrive later.

Wednesday, 24th August 2011 - Faculty Arrival Day
06:00 - Our very own Dr David Green left Harlaxton to collect our Fall 2011 faculty
11:00 - No problems in spite of the flight delays on the East Coast of the USA and the faculty are now on their way to Harlaxton. We expect arrival at about 14:00. You can find full details of our Fall 2011 faculty on our website.

13:00 - The faculty have arrived and we are glad to see them. Today they will be getting settled and getting to know the manor. Then, tomorrow, faculty orientation begins as does last minute preparations for student arrivals on Friday.
